A Couple Of Questions About WordPress Itself

First of all has anyone else had any problems with clicking on links within WordPress? For example, if I’m in Reader and I want to read a post in full, if I click on the post half the time I get “This page can’t be displayed”. As Terry Wogan used to say “Is it me?” and it is just a little local difficulty, or are other people encountering the same problem?

The second question is regarding Plug-ins. There is a plug-in for a newsletter which I want to investigate. However the installation instructions suggest that there should be a Plug-ins button on my admin page – which I take to be my dashboard. One information page had a screen shot with the Plug-ins button just below the Appearance button on the left hand side of the screen. Is it well hidden where I can’t find it or am I looking in the wrong place or is it only on the paid-for up-market versions? There are suggestions about installing things in the WP folder on your computer. Well I do everything online and have not downloaded anything onto my computer.

Any help and suggestions gratefully received. Thank you.

Meanwhile here are a couple of prints I did earlier this week. They are of the Lowry at Salford Quays and are part of my Salford Quays series. (The dark edges are from my scanner):

  1. Love your prints, John. Sometimes stuff that comes up in WP reader is taken down by the poster before you get a chance to view it – could that be it? If you’re running the freebie WP you may not have access to plugins.

    • Thanks for comment re prints. The problem with links is too frequent for it to be simply people taking stuff down. That’s why I wondered if it was a problem with my computer. I don’t seem to have problems on other sites.

  2. Lovely work. I find that I have problems with WordPress when I’m using a tablet or smartphone but it’s fine with a PC or laptop.

Yes, I get “This page cannot be displayed” thing regularly. Also, if I open a post the “Like” button “is loading” comes up and it never loads so I have to go back to the front of the post to “Like” it. And stats and notifications don`t load always either.
I used to think all of those things were down to patchy internet coverage. But other sites could be loading fine at the same time as those WP issues so it`s not that.
I`ve found ways around things-loading stats and comments from my dashboard for instance. I always load up my reader favs in a string of separate tabs and anyone that doesn`t load properly, I`ve the main reader page open so I can reclick on an unloaded post.

Not satisfactory, of course. But I do believe it`s a WP issue and not you. Or me!

Yep to WP smartphone issues too, as per other noter! Painful at times.

No idea about plug ins. If you google search it will take you straight to WP forum posts that deal with such issues though.

You might be interested to know that yours is the only blog i have been able to access fully on my phone! Lots of loading messages and clicking beteeen login and the blogpage for all my other favourites. And very striking prints – dark diagonals have it!

I have less trouble with WP generally now I use Google Chrome as my default browser, rather than explorer (or as daughter Nancy calls it: exploder)

What do you think?
